12: Farewell to You

July 29th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in General

kamigoroshi-5.gifThink of a time you had to say farewell to someone important to you. Then write a farewell to that person. Include as many concrete details as possiblle such as where the person was going, why he or she was leavin, and when you might see him or her again.

I wrote this in 1996 but have revised it so many times that it doesn’t look like the original at all.

If I Could Walk Away

Your presence overwhelms me.
You lie with yellow teeth piercing
through a sadistic smile.
Drink in hand.
Cigar in mouth.
Lies on lips.

And if I could walk away
my suitcase full of heartache
and the slightest hint of strength
there would be no
better time
than this.

I fill your glass
and stare into your eyes,
with so much hatred that it overflows.

It’s good. Very good. *sigh* Wow. I like it, and it make my eyes sting. I’m pretty sure that’s the poem and not the time. *smile*
