]]>Try this easy pedicure that uses most of the ingredients that you already have:
What You Need
: I find that the washbasins that you get in the hospital work perfectly so use that if you have one.
or even a cereal bowl.

because I like the lavendar scent.
Once you have all your ingredients, make a mixture of olive oil and salt. Use more salt than olive oils so that you have thick scrub. Combine soap and warm water in the basin and go sit. Remove nail polish now. Place pail on one towel and soak your feet for about 5 minutes (longer if you have really rough feet. Soaking softens your feet so that the dead, dry skin comes off. Using your oil/salt mixture scrub your feet in small, hard circles. Be sure to concentrate on the really rough spots like your heel. Make sure to also get your nail beds. Then using your cuticle cutter, get rid of those nasty dry cuticles. I also use a nail cleaner to get under my toe nails. Soak your feet again. Cut your toenails (not too short- don’t hurt yourself). When you are done, pat your feet dry and slap on your lotion. When it has dried, put your socks on and keep them on all day/night. And your done.
This treatments should last for about a week before you have to do it again.

2. Kristina is actually not my first name. My real first name starts with a “K” too. I have not been called my real first name since I was 3 and in fact, I have legally changed my name to Kristina.

4. Kindness is my downfall and people often take advantage of me because I am too kind.
5. Kittens make me sneeze. Cats too.
6. Kindergarten is one of my favorite memories of my childhood. I went to a place that had a playground on the roof. It was fenced in really well. I don’t think anyone every got hurt.

9. Kid you not, I have 8 names if you include my maiden name.
10. Karaoke is one of my favorite activities despite having HORRIBLE stage fright.

]]>Some of you may have noticed my vlogging section on my sidebar. About two weeks ago, I decided to give vlogging a try using my digital camera and posted my first vlog. While my topics are good (and the editing later or is kind of sexy thanks to the example set by Ms. CutieBootyCakes), the quality of the videos are not. The colors are off in the second one and it’s dark, and in the first my head was almost chopped of. Well, thanks to the people over at NewBaby.com, I will soon be the proud owner of a FLIP video camera. At any rate, my new series is up and running right here on kristinabrooke.org, and also on my vlog hosted by Newbaby.com. I will be posting to this series once a week, but I am also starting another one which I will talk about when my FLIP camera arrives. That one will also be once a week. So check them out!

As parents we know how important reading is to a child’s brain development. Reading to a child everyday for just 20 minutes can help your child develop a love of books and increase his/her vocaulary skills. While I believe that is important that children be surrounded by books so that they can get used to touching them, turning the pages, and even the smell of them, I cannot deny that in this digital age, computers and video appeal to visual learners. While I often fight the lure of the electronics, I do admit that there are ways to use technology to help educate our children.
MobiStories, virtual books for children, allows parents to purchase “narrated digital children’s books with illustrations and music.” The stories on the site are arranged according to age groups and range in difficulty. There are board books that teach about the different seasons, and storybooks about dinosaurs and bears. And, you can download the books in almost any format to be played on iPhones, Computers, or even DVD. In addition, you can also download just the audio version to burn on CD or add to your iPod for long trips in the car or on planes. The prices are reasonable and the stories are fun.

Yes, this is my living room. Well, it was. I know, it looks like a tornado hit. Well it did. My daughter. In fact that is her nickname: The Tornado. and while this is not entirely her fault, she helped. So when my mom offered to give us a beautiful three piece entetainment center and she hired the movers to bring it in less than 24 hours, I decided that it was time to tackle this massive mess.
I worked long and hard in between tweets and surfing the net. Then, my husband helped when he got home from work at 1:00 am. And then we moved some stuff in the morning. Still, it wasn’t until after 9:30 PM that night that the living room actually started to take shape. Of course much of this had to do with the fact that I had a EXQUISITE piece of furniture to work around. And so, without further ado, I introduce my new living room.
Isn’t it beautiful?! I love it and so does my daughter. She likes to open and close the cabinet and roll around on the rug. It’s a good quality rug too- soft and thick.
It’s funny how one really expensive and beautiful piece of furniture can change your mood. I was geting kind of bummed because my apartment lacked character and style, but not any more. It is beautiful. It almost makes the big whole in my wall left by the movers worth it- ok, not quite.
Next, my dining room table. 
This is what happens when a mom is trying to start her own business and a husband is working very hard to pick up the slack. Hey you think this is bad? You should see my bedroom. I have a lot to do before Thanksgiving Dinner.

]]>The first time I posted this I could not speak. I was in tears. I was overwhelmed by something that I did not believe would happen.
President Elect Barack Obama has made history. We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, have elected the best candidate for the job. We have managed to, despite all of the naysayers both at home and abroad, breakaway from a history of hate and deceit.
We have made history.
As a mother of a biracial daughter- a mother who is married to a white man - a mother who is a member of the dwindling middle class, Obama’s victory is a personal one for me and it should be for all Americans. We have entered an era of change and we must ALL come together to do so.
Our nation has been divided for so long and we have been focused on the things that make us different. It is time to focus on what make us the same. We have so much more in common than we know and it is my hope that we as a Nation can continue to turn the tide.
Yes we can!
And for the first time in my life I believe that we will.

]]>So I am voting for Obama and Biden.
I believe that putting Obama in office will help turn this country around. I know that doing the samething over and over again and expecting different results is a sign of insanity and it is up to each individual to, well, stop the insanity. I know that at the end of the day what matters is that we have someone in office who understand the plight of the average American. Some one who knows that happiness is a constant struggle and won’t bail out when something more prosperous comes along. We deserve someone who wants to move forward.
My daughter deserves to live in a better world.
So I am voting for Obama and Biden.
